Conference at Utsunomiya (11/12-13)

Posted on Nov 20, 2022.

On 2022/11/12-13, I attended a domestic conference on control with Prof. Hirata, Ajioka, Morikita, and Miwa. I've met a lot of my old dear friends at this conference. We departed on 2022/11/11 and had dinner altogether with Prof. Kawai, Wasa, and Watanabe (Wasa's student).

The presenters from the University of Toyama were as follows.
  1. Miwa: "On Simplified Model of Glucose-insulin Dynamics for Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus"
  2. Morikita: "On Modeling and Simulator Development for FES-cycling Systems"
  3. Ajioka: "Modeling of the 3D Trajectory and Shock Interaction of a Ball-Batt System Using the Elastic-Collision and Energy-Conservation Principles"

I went to the session where Prof. Hirata was the chair. There I've met an old friend of mine: Satoshi! He's now an assistant professor at the Nagoya Institute of Technology. Went out for lunch with Satoshi as the session was over.

Next, I went to the session presided by Prof. Hatanaka. There I've met with old Tokyo Tech friends: Yamauchi and Funada!

After this session, I went to a robotics session to attend Satoshi's student presentation. We then had a special presentation on noncontact displays using beam lights.

Next, I went eat with Yamauchi, Funada, and Satoshi to "The Juicy Gyoza Dandan". Apparently, according to Tanaka-kun (Tokyo tech), the gyoza (dumplings) were not authentic as we can find them as a chain anywhere in Japan. Anyway, it was very delicious!

In the afternoon, I attended the presentations of Miwa, Morikita, and Ajioka. The presentations were extremely good! I'm very proud of them!

After the presentation, I had dinner with the students, Funada, and Satoshi. We went to "Utsunomiya Minmin", apparently selling authentic gyoza.

A wonderful trip with Prof. Hirata and all the students of Toyama! Thanks everyone!

Bonus: 2022/11/16 (Gyoza party)

Ajioka, Miwa, and Morikita brought back 30 dumplings from Utsunomiya Minmin to share with everyone in the lab. The participants were: Kono, Takeshita, Kitajima, Miwa, Kinoshita, Ajioka, Kajiwara, and Tam.
