Kokura's Trip and MSCS 2023

This post is about my trip to Kokura and the MSCS 2023 conference meeting.

Kokura's Trip (3/6)

On 2023/3/6, we had a meeting on our environment project, where we discussed interesting clustering techniques in machine learning to predict the zero-carbon emission achievement of a household.

Group meeting. Everybody listening to the seminar about clustering techniques in machine learning given by Nitin Kumar Singh, postdoc at the University of Kitakyushu.

The seminar was given by Nitin Kumar Singh, a postdoc from India, now working at the University of Kitakyushu under the supervision of Prof. Nagahara. It was a very interesting topic. I'm quite amazed about how it's possible to extract the important features from data simply through interview questions. Using these important features, we are able to predict if a household will score well at the zero-carbon emission achievement.

Together with Nitin, I've also met Prof. Nagahara from the University of Kitakyushu, and met again Prof. Ushifusa, also from the University of Kitakyushu. I think the combination of control engineering, machine learning, and economics is a very interesting topic. I've also met again with Mengmou and Daniel Carnerero, from Spain, now working as a postdoc at the Tokyo Institute of Technology.

MSCS 2023 (3/9 - 3/11)

The conference took place in Otsu, east of Kyoto. The presenters at the conference from Toyama were as follows in order of passage.

Prof. Hirata (3/9): "Decentralized Cooperative Management of Energy Demand/Supply Networks Using Virtual Pricing Signal."
Tam (3/9): "Kernel-Based Predictive Control Allocation Design and Its Application to Thrust Vector Control."
Terasaki-kun (3/10): "On the Experiment of Hierarchical Decentralized Control in a Virtual Power Plant Using Price Suggestion in a Real Plant."
Kajiwara-kun (3/11): "On Profit Estimation for Battery Sharing Using Actual Demand Data."
